knit/lab/MagicWaves in the round

This pattern is an adaptation of my MagicWaves pattern. It is not possible to work the original pattern in the round as the stitches don’t line up at the start of some of the rows/rounds. After some trial and error and slipping some of the stitches backwards and forwards, I came up with the necessary adjustments to smoothly align the waves. The knitting biases slightly as the start of the round shifts from time to time to accommodate the wave pattern.

I've made this small cowl as a sample project - the pattern can be used for any project worked in the round, for example cowls, garments or double thickness scarves.

The picture above was taken before blocking, and the pictures below were taken after blocking.

MagicWaves in the Round is also available as a bundle with the original MagicWaves for $9.00 (regular price $13.00). Use the code Magic at checkout or click here to add the bundle to your cart. (Previous purchases of MagicWaves count towards the bundle!)The cowl project was knit on a 3.25mm/US3 needle with approximately 40g/120m/131yds of Nature’s Luxury On Stage, Elegantly Wasted colorway. Before embarking on a bigger project, for example a garment, I recommend starting with a generously-sized swatch to establish gauge, yarn quantities, etc.

Dimensions: approximately 23cm/9ins wide by 16cm/6.5ins before blocking and 24cm/9.5ins by 18cm/7ins after blocking.

Gauge in lace pattern after blocking: approximately 27sts and 40 rows = 4ins/10cm

Comparative gauge in Stocking Stitch on 3.25mm/US3 needle after blocking: approximately 24.5sts and 33 rows = 4ins/10cm
