knit/lab/fireworks

A lacy rectangular shawl with decorative bursts of color combining intarsia and lace knitting.

The lace patterning creates strong distortions and contrasts of density in the intarsia motifs.

Knit on 3.25mm/US3 needles, width and length are easily adjustable if you want to use more yarn.

MC: 1.5 balls/150g/630m/690yds of Schoppelwolle Zauberball Crazy sock yarn, Holly Blue 2133

CC: approximately 200yds/180m comprising 24 x 1.7yd/1.5m and 57 x 2.7yd/2.5m lengths

Each of the CC lengths is made up of 3 (or 4) related shades spliced together into mini gradations.

For the sample I used mostly left overs of highly saturated ColorShift Yarn warm parade and cool parade progressions, along with a few other shades.

Finished dimensions: approximately 53ins/135cm by 19ins/48cm, flaring out slightly at the ends

Gauge: approximately 23 stitches and 24 rows = 4in/10cm in lace and intarsia pattern

Some details of the final pattern are slightly different from the version pictured.

The pdf contains one chart, short written instructions commenting on the chart, and a phototutorial for splicing yarn ends.
